Long ago, before we became aware that it was a thing, Nigerians loved to settle down to lunch after Church and most times, the meal would be a delicious plate of Rice.

Now it does not matter how the rice was cooked, could be just plain white rice and the stew, or could be the popular Nigerian Jollof rice, some families however are able to go the extra mile to make fried rice for their family on a Sunday afternoon.

Gradually, it became a thing and “Sunday Rice” came to stay. While some homes are not particular about “Sunday Rice”, it is a taboo for some homes to not hold the Sunday ritual!

We start thinking of Sunday Rice as soon as the weekend is ushered in. We do some extra “thinking” when we have an idea that our mothers plan to go the extra mile, meaning that Jollof Rice or Fried Rice and Chicken would be involved!

It is 2021, is Sunday Rice still a thing? Do we still think of “Sunday” and automatically think of “Rice”?

Is your Sunday absolutely completely without the Sunday Rice?

What is your ideal “Sunday Rice?” just rice or the extra Rice?
