There was a time in the Nigerian entertainment industry that the act of comedy was regarded as joblessness, those who engaged in comedy arts were not taken seriously.

Back then, it was stand up comedy, the acts had to stand on a stage and try to make people laugh, it was always judgement on the spot as you either get the reaction you love or the one you dread.

Just as the acceptance was low, the remuneration was low too. Eventually, they have been accepted, as a matter of fact, Comedians are some of the richest in the industry.

Some new groups of “jesters” are however taking over the industry fast, faster than it took stand up comedians to be known.

These new set are young, they are vibrant, they are funny, they are creative and they are competitive. They are the Instagram comedians also known as Influencers.
